Meet Fun. An indie rock trio signed to Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic Records. Now i’m going to be completely honest with you, I just discovered these guys about 2 weeks ago via their hit song “We Are Young” being placed in the trailer for the movie, This Is 40. It was then I remembered the song was also used in Chevrolet’s Super Bowl commercial earlier this year.
I then started doing my research on their music only to discover they recently released their sophomore set “Some Nights” in February 2012.
The band stated they drew heavy inspiration from Kanye’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” project while recording “Some Nights.” Fun loved the creative sound from Ye’s last solo project that they hunted down one of musical heads responsible for Ye’s project, Jeff Bhasker. Bhasker then took on production duties for Some Nights.
The creative move landed Fun. at #3 on the Billboard 200 for the release of Some Nights moving 70,000 units in seven days.
So, here we are. May 22nd and I, along with countless others, are engulfed in the sounds of “Some Nights.” And since I love putting folks on to new music, I figured why not give you guys a taste of Fun.’s “Some Nights” project.
Below I’ve posted a stream of “One Foot”, my favorite cut from “Some Nights.” The gigantic sounding single is a bit deep in rhetoric, but nonetheless boisterous in sound. If you guys love what you hear, hit us up in the comments section and tell us what you like about them. To purchase “Some Nights”, head over to iTunes now.
