As LBJ.com contributor Xionone wrote last month, today is the day of the big Xbox press conference where we all get to see what they have in-store for their 3rd generation console, and the 8th generation of home consoles overall.

A lot of hardware details have been released, such as inclusion of a Blu-ray disc drive and further Kinect sensor integration.  Everything under the hood sounds nice, but if you want to see the whole picture first, you have to check out http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hub/reveal  at 1:00 pm ET / 10:00 am PT to catch the whole thing, or find Spike TV on your cable/satellite package.

…is the question The LeBron James Family Foundation (LJFF) poses to each child of Akron, Ohio all the way up to the world at large.  LeBron’s Foundation efforts center on creating a better life for underprivileged kids, with a focus on setting educational and wellness goals for children in the Akron Public School system.

Today, LJFF officially launched its newly redesigned website focusing on all of the major facets of the organization’s mission.  From LeBron’s Wheels For Education program to his involvement with the Boys & Girls Club of America, LJFF’s new website has every story covered.  If you’re waiting for the next new colorway of LeBron’s “I PROMISE” wristbands, this is your spot to get the news first and where to get yours.

Something big is on the way

We’ve known for some time that the next release for Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V would center around 3 main characters.  In the new trailer today, we get a formal introduction to each of them for the first time.  Providing little tastes of what’s to come for this September 17th blockbuster, we finally get to see what motivates Michael, Franklin and Trevor to do the awful things they are destined to do within the confines of a vast map of San Andreas.  Keep your money ready to shell out for this one in 4 1/2 months.

In his 2009 film District 9, director Neill Blomkamp created a movie that felt more like a documentary on immigration than a science-fiction laser-fest.

Then it promptly turned into a science-fiction laser-fest.  Like we all wanted.

Blomkamp is making a name for himself in being able to create a relatable, realistic experience within a futuristic setting.  Where District 9 spoke to current events in human aid and immigration, his new movie, Elysium, touches on income disparity and the 99% vs. 1%.  Within this universe, we can expect a tense, action-packed movie with a whole lot of passion behind the boom.

NMA Media is a media outlet from Taiwan that specializes in reporting groundbreaking world news and celebrity gossip.  What sets NMA apart from the crowd is that they use computer animation to tell the story, often times going WAY over the top to tell it.  Typically hilarious and always ridiculous, check out NMA’s take on the Blake Griffin/Serge Ibaka controversy and the LA Lakers’ season struggles below.  Let me know what you think in our comments section!

Best.  History Class.  Ever.

The Holy Land was alright.  The Italian Renaissance was cool enough that we stayed there for 3 games.  The American Revolution opened up the series to a “new world” of possibilities.  Now Pirates?  Yar.

If you haven’t gotten into the Assassin’s Creed franchise yet, you need to.  Taking a trip through history, meeting influential people, and assassinating them makes for a pretty engaging history presentation that would have been a huge help back in my High School days.  Desmond’s bloodline traces into “Pirates of the Caribbean” territory in the high seas open world, and poses for another huge, history-shaping adventure.  Let me know what you think in the comments section below and what other new releases you’re excited about.
