Hot Apps: Vine

So what’s hot on the net these days? That definitely would have to be Vine, the app which let’s you make quick 6 second videos. It might seem limited, but the videos themselves end up looking like looping animated GIFs with sound. As such, some of them have been pretty creative.

Vine was founded just a year ago in June 2012 and was later purchased by Twitter last October. The first official version of the app dropped this past January for iOS (Apple) devices, and now, this week the app was made available for Android devices as well. So far, it’s looking like the new Instagram.

Here’s a LeBron pre-game dunk before Game 7 against Indiana, spotted on the official Vine of the Miami Heat:

The New XBox Reveal: The Xbox One

As LBJ.com contributor Xionone wrote last month, today is the day of the big Xbox press conference where we all get to see what they have in-store for their 3rd generation console, and the 8th generation of home consoles overall.

A lot of hardware details have been released, such as inclusion of a Blu-ray disc drive and further Kinect sensor integration. Everything under the hood sounds nice, but if you want to see the whole picture first, you have to check out http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hub/reveal at 1:00 pm ET / 10:00 am PT to catch the whole thing, or find Spike TV on your cable/satellite package.

After a two year hiatus, The LeBrons are finally back for a second season. As you know, the four alter egos of LeBron (Business, Wise, Athlete, and Kid) were once part of a classic promo campaign with Nike and have since become an animated series on Youtube. This season, the show goes full 3D.

Google I/O 2013

There’s no question that Google has been on the forefront of technology and innovation on the web and on mobile platforms, and this week we’ll get to see the next level of what they have in store. At their annual I/O Keynote, the company often displays a new version of Android or, in the case of last year, the introduction of their Nexus 7 tablet, which was widely considered to be the best tablet of 2012.

A new commercial started appearing on TV this week for the Samsung Galaxy S4. In somewhat typical fashion, they take a few jabs at the competition while showing off the new device’s features (and there’s a LOT of them to see).

…is the question The LeBron James Family Foundation (LJFF) poses to each child of Akron, Ohio all the way up to the world at large. LeBron’s Foundation efforts center on creating a better life for underprivileged kids, with a focus on setting educational and wellness goals for children in the Akron Public School system.

Today, LJFF officially launched its newly redesigned website focusing on all of the major facets of the organization’s mission. From LeBron’s Wheels For Education program to his involvement with the Boys & Girls Club of America, LJFF’s new website has every story covered. If you’re waiting for the next new colorway of LeBron’s “I PROMISE” wristbands, this is your spot to get the news first and where to get yours.

The Foundation unveiled its new site design on its Facebook and Twitter accounts announcing:

LeBron In The 2013 TIME 100

TIME presented its annual list of the top 100 most influential people in the world, and LeBron James was on the list. Yankees legend Derek Jeter wrote the piece about him:

“I’ve had the chance to meet LeBron James, and I know he’s a Yankees fan. I also know it must be tough to root for the Yankees while living in Miami and Cleveland.

The first thing that strikes you is his sheer size and athleticism. Another thing, he’s down to earth. Most people in LeBron’s position aren’t as grounded as he is. He hasn’t forgotten where he comes from, and he’s given back so much to Ohio and Akron, his hometown. LeBron cares deeply about these places, and that says a lot about him.

LeBron never takes a play off. His all-out effort is what stands out when you watch him. Whether his team is up 20 or down 20, LeBron is playing like it’s Game 7 of the NBA Finals. His dedication, devotion and focus have won the admiration of fans — and his athletic peers. He’s someone anyone, in any profession, can look up to.

Spotlight: Photos by Brooklyn Theory

A couple years back I joined the photo-sharing community on EyeEm. At the time, Instagram was not available for Android devices, and EyeEm was certainly a good similar app with plenty of potential.

One of the people I discovered on there and have been following ever since was Brooklyn Theory. The NY-based photographer travels around the boroughs daily, taking new shots of people, objects, and scenery. Check out a batch of his photos below:
