Joe Haden's Celebrity Softball Game

It was an eventful Saturday on a beautiful day in Cleveland, Ohio for Johnny Manziel and multiple Cleveland Browns players. Starting with the Cleveland Browns Fan Fest at the Convention Center downtown where Johnny got the excitement rolling by signing a baby in his fan-filled section of the event. Nearly 1,000 fans circled around the Quarterback’s section in hopes of getting an autograph as Manziel signed and took photos with many.

Once Fan Fest concluded, it was time for some Browns players, including Manziel, to suit up in their baseball’s best and head to the Lake County Captains Stadium to partake in Joe Haden’s Celebrity Softball Game. It was a star studded line-up for both teams that included some of the NFL’s current stars and all-time greats.

Team Orange:

Colin Kaepernick, Larry Fitzgerald, Mike Pouncey, A.J. Green, T.J Ward, Major Wright, Phil Taylor, Donte Whitner, Christian Kirksey, Travis Benjamin

Team Black:

Joe Haden, Richard Sherman, Randall Cobb, Deion Sanders, Maurkice Pouncey, Kam Chancellor, Patrick Peterson, Johnny Manziel, Justin Gilbert, Jordan Pyer, Billy Winn, Torrey Smith

The evening kicked off with 100 VIP fans who were able to come down to the field and meet some of their favorite stars. During this time you could catch Johnny taking selfie after selfie with multiple fans as many were excited to meet and see him in person.

With a roaring Cleveland crowd in the stands, the event turned to the Home Run Derby, where Johnny shined and showed many why the Padres selected him in the MLB draft. In his first at bat, Johnny led Team Black to a 10 – 1 first round win that saw him matched up with Torrey Smith in the second round. A quick announcement from Deion Sanders stating “He’s putting his money on Manziel” to take the derby crown…and it was smart money indeed as Johnny claimed the Home Run Derby and was awarded the Championship Bat.

As the softball game kicked off, fans cheered louder and louder for Manziel for every at-bat and every time he took the field, holding down 3rd base the entire game. It wasn’t long before Johnny found himself fulfilling many fan requests between innings as he ran back and forth between the 1st and 3rd baseline walls, signing autographs and taking pictures left and right. Amidst the running back and forth, Johnny and Team Black cruised to a 41 – 19 victory and an overall success of a night.
