The buzz is clicking around town here in Akron, Ohio… the city’s most beloved son has chosen to return to Ohio and play for the team where he began his illustrious career… the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Friday, July 11, 2014 will go down in history as the day LeBron told the world he was “coming home.”
No place on earth would rejoice and celebrate more than the Northeast Ohio he lauded in his announcement. Northeast Ohio wanted the world to know that there really is no place like home. The next day, businesses all around Akron began posting signs, changing billboards, baking cupcakes, and planning welcome home parties while in Cleveland there was lowered gas, “23” cent wings, and many more. The Akron Beacon Journal and Plain Dealer both saw covers from top to bottom of LeBron doing his infamous chalk-toss that he christened each game with at the Q. LeBron’s new Home Court I PROMISE Band dawned the wine and gold colors shortly after his announcement and read, “In Northeast Ohio, nothing is given. Everything is earned. You work for what you have.” This band is dedicated to Northeast Ohio and LeBron’s new home court and is available for sale on www.timetopromise.com.
These cities are glowing with excitement; no matter the age, everyone is excited for LeBron to be returning to his roots. Hopping in your car and driving down Market Street / Route 18 in Akron will show you that…or you can scroll down and see some pictures below without even jumping in your car.
