Every game at The Q this season, you will find an enthusiastic group of Akron Public School students from Mr. LeBron’s Wheels for Education and Akron I PROMISE Network programs sitting in a special section of the lower bowl and cheering on #23. Dubbed "I PROMISE Land," LeBron invites these students to the game as his special guests as a result of their hard work in the classroom. Their seats are earned, not given.
In a life-changing incentive for the students to keep working hard, The University of Akron and the LeBron James Family Foundation have partnered to provide full scholarships for all eligible students that meet certain requirements, including graduating from an Akron public high school. And just like their tickets to the Cavs games, their scholarships will be earned, not given.
On Saturday, the Cleveland Cavaliers helped celebrate this partnership and welcomed students from the I PROMISE program to their game against the New Orleans Pelicans. There, a special group of LJFF students were recognized in an on-court presentation at halftime and Cavs fans in attendance received an exclusive LeBron James Fathead, all in an effort to inspire support for the students and their scholarships from across the Northeast Ohio community.
Allowing fans to stick with LeBron in a whole new way, the LeBron James and LJFF-themed Fathead featured five Cleveland Cavalier and LeBron decals including an 8” x 16.5” action shot of #23. The Fathead was distributed to fans along with information about the UA-LJFF partnership including how you can join LeBron as he works to make a difference in the lives of his Foundation’s hard-working students.
